Hello Lighthouse family,

On Friday, May 29 at 12pm the restrictions for gatherings will be increased to 100 under Alert Level 2.

Due to the fact that we have more than 100 people in our church family, we have prayerfully decided to have two Sunday meetings so that we can meet the regulations and make sure there is space for everyone in our church family to be able to come together again to worship and fellowship.

Thank you for letting us know your preferences in terms of meeting times, we have tried to accommodate everyone’s needs and come up with a workable plan.

During the time gatherings are restricted to 100, the plan will be as follows.

The duration of the meetings will be 1 hour instead of the usual 1.5 hours, in order to enable everyone to be able to attend a service on a Sunday morning, which was the overall preference. This also means that there will be no tea, coffee or snacks before or after the meeting, for the time being.

The first meeting will be from 9.30am to 10.30am, and will have a program for children, so we would like to ask families with children and youth to please attend this service.

Between 10.30am and 11.00am, the facility will be cleaned, in preparation to welcome those attending the second service.

If you are not bringing children and youth to church with you, we would like to ask you to please attend the meeting that will be held from 11.00am to 12.00pm.

If you cannot attend the service that has been designated for you and need to attend the other service, please let us know so that we can check if the service numbers can accommodate this. It is important to us that there is space for everyone, so please could you respond to this email to give us an indication of which meeting you plan to attend, to enable us to do this.

Since the venue needs to be cleaned after each service, please feel free to arrive a little earlier so you have time to connect with friends. This way we will also avoid any congestion after the meeting while the venue needs to be cleaned.

If you would like a copy of The Lighthouse Church Covid-19 Control Plan, please let us know … it is important that we do our part to care for our church family as well as the broader community. The plan will be worked through with ministry leaders over the coming weeks and we would like to thank the ministry leaders and teams that serve so faithfully for making adjustments to accommodate the regulations.

During this time we would like to encourage everyone in our church family to get involved and do what they can to assist in lightening the load due to the increased commitments of an additional Sunday meeting. If you would like to help out in any way, please contact Sandy on 027 584 4621, she will let you know where there are still opportunities to help.

We know that as we continue to encourage, care for, and help out where we can, it will be a time of great joy and fruitfulness for everyone.

In order to comply with regulations, we need to play it safe. Please stay at home if you are not well, but please do let us know so that we can still pray and care for you. We also need to maintain hygiene standards and meet existing record-keeping requirements for contact tracing. In order to achieve this there will be hand sanitizer at the door as well as contact tracing forms to be completed on entry and departure.

Let’s each do our part, trusting and knowing God that will use this to bring about His purposes.

Let’s lift up holy hands in one accord and pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven at our One Voice prayer meeting in the cafe on Thursday, May 28 from 6pm to 7pm.

The church office will still be open remotely, so please feel free to make contact on 06 377 0333 or office@lighthouse.org.nz or 027 584 4621.

The Sunday messages will be re-broadcast on WaiTV and ArrowFM at 7 pm on Sunday and Thursday evenings as well as the following Sunday at 11 am, for anyone who is at risk or needs to stay home and as an outreach tool to others in the broader community. Alternatively, if you are away over the Queen’s Birthday weekend (for example), they will also still be available on the website www.lighthouse.org.nz

We are looking forward to seeing how God will use the current circumstances to strengthen us, grow us, and draw us closer to Him and to others.

Galatians 6:9-10 says

9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

The situation in our world is creating a great opportunity for God’s people to spread his much-needed love and truth to all around us. Let us not give up doing all that Jesus has called us to do or being the people he has created for his glory.

Blessings,

The Elders
